I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mitti cuisine, an Indian food restaurant that offers an authentic taste of India in the heart of the Athens, GA. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy interior that features traditional Indian decor, giving off a welcoming vibe. The food was the real star of the evening. We started with vada with sambar. It was a perfect introduction to what was to come. Chicken 65 was go good with just the right amount of spice, while the Peshwari Naan complemented the dishes wonderfully, and the Biryani had a fragrant aroma that filled the entire room, making it hard to resist. The service was attentive, and the staff were knowledgeable about the menu. Our food arrived promptly, and everything was well-presented. Mitti cuisine is a solid choice for anyone craving traditional Indian dishes with a modern twist. It’s great for a casual dinner with friends or a special occasion. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their menu in the future!
Great South Indian cuisine. Rice and curry combo is a fantastic deal. Delicious dosa. Delicious madhu vadai (savory doughnut). Excellent paneer tikka masala. Excellent bhindi (okra), best of many restaurants I've tried. Dal tadka (yellow lentil) tempered with care and super tasty. Sambar quite spicy. It's worth paying extra for garlic naan instead of plain. I could go on. The food is great. AC is a bit lacking but what the heck, this is a hole in the wall style place with five star food.
After reading some of the reviews, I like to point out that “food court” is in the name. This means fast, convenient and easy to access food. Don’t expect frills. The food is good and the place is sanitary. This is the only place with Kerala Plantain Fry, which is excellent, in town. Food is cheap. The business partners, who run the restaurant, are friendly, dedicated and helpful. They have a team of hardworking staff to get food out on time. Most of the diners are part of the UGA community. I’m glad that there are two Indian restaurants in town. The first opened in mid 2000’s and this opened in 2024. It took about 20 years.
My friends and I had an incredible experience at Mitti last weekend. We enjoyed authentic South Indian food, and everything was absolutely delicious. The Peshawari naan was unmatched – I’ve never had such tasty naan before. We loved the vada, dosa, sambar, and many other dishes! The location and ambiance are fantastic! There’s an Asian grocery store right next door, perfect for some quick shopping after your meal. I can’t wait to visit again. Go treat yourself to the delicious food!
Finally a good Indian place in Athens! The food I ordered was delicious! I totally recommend and will be ordering again. This is a family run business and they have just started, so expect a little longer wait and double check your order before leaving if ordering to go. Definitely worth the wait
Excellent food, great service, lovely employees. We got the three curry combo, and shared it between two people. We had enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. Really great value for the quality of food and price! I grew up in Asia and have literally been to India, and this is by far the best Indian food I've had in Athens!
This restaurant serves the best South Indian food I've ever tasted! We tried their Mysore masala dosa, Masala dosa, plain Idli, Ghee podi Idli, vada and Indian Coffee. Every bite reminded me of the authentic flavors of India, from crispy dosas to flavorful sambar, everything is utterly delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for amazing indian food and exceptional service, this is the place to go!
Iguana's, a sort of sad addition to a saturated central and south American restaurant demographic in Athens, has been replaced by Mitti and has the bones to dominate its competitors (although few). Mitti Food court has food comparable to what you might find at the Bawarchi's, Hyderabad House's, and Persus's that Atlanta is lucky to have. Something Taste of India cannot claim if you ask any south Asian. For me, any good Indian restaurant will have tasty and abundant amounts of Biryani. And the goat is what I prefer. Lots of hunks of tender goat with marrow to boot. Chicken 65 with lots of flavor. The Chicken curry with Dosas was also delicious. The complementary raita and other accoutrements were also delicious. It's clear that the food is prepared with care and thought due to the whole spices used such as cumin, coriander seeds, etc. that perfume the dishes. I expect Mitti Food court to continue for as long as it wants if it maintains its standards.
